Careggine and its natural beauties

Careggine - Careggine is a tiny village of only 524 inhabitants located within the Apuan Alps Park, in the province of Lucca. In its territory there are two ski lifts that serve six kilometers of snow-covered slopes that make it a very popular destination for winter sports enthusiasts. In the spring and summer period, on the other hand, it represents a fundamental starting point for hikers who want to visit the Apuan Alps Park and the Garfagnana area.

In this regard there are also a well-equipped hotel-refuge and a bar-restaurant that meet every need of the many tourists from all over the world who are attracted here by the natural beauties. In particular, the town is a favorite destination especially for many school groups and families. Other places of great interest in the town are the Castle built by the nobles of Careggine around the 10th century and the Pieve di San Pietro dating back to 1300 which houses a valuable painting of the Last Supper.
