The small, incredible world of Linosa

Isola di Linosa - The island of Linosa is very small, and speaking with those who live there and lead us every day, we discover its strengths and weaknesses. Linosa is very beautiful, to the point that it was also chosen as a set for a film with Maria Grazia Cucinotta. For the island and its inhabitants, having had so many actors and workers to populate the days was really a great diversion, compared to a reality in which the island is depopulated in the winter months.

The shortcomings felt by those who live on this island are many. Many goods do not arrive, such as gasoline; to benefit from health or higher education services you have to move because Linosa is lacking. So young people have to go to study in other larger cities, for example in Agrigento, where the impact with such a different reality is always traumatic. In general, however, people return to Linosa, despite the many difficulties. The advantages are uncontaminated nature, the open sea, and the possibility of showing children the North Star simply by raising their eyes to the sky.
