Castellar's diary

Castellar - The small village is a small fraction of the Municipality of Saluzzo. In the shadow of the imposing castle that overlooks it and which constitutes its main attraction, it has a strong cultural identity, rooted in the bucolic past and projected into the future, thanks to the model of sustainability. Examples are the municipal wood-fired oven in a central position, which works and bakes bread and sweets for the whole community, and the scarecrow festival which at the beginning of May involves all children and their families.

But the best season to stay here is the end of summer when at the festival 'a valley of flavors' you can taste the wine of the Saluzzo hills, the Ramassin del Monviso (plum of Syriac origin and cultivated since the times of the Marquisate of Saluzzo) and the apples of Bronda valley. On this occasion it is wonderful to try the MTB routes through the woods, take panoramic hikes or visit the thirteenth-century Chapel of San Ponzio. Do not miss the Christmas market, starting from the first days of December, when the whole village is elegantly decorated with soft lights.
