Sammezzano Castle represents the most important expression of Orientalist architecture in Italy. The most important rooms of the building were the Reception Hall, the Hall of the Peacocks, the Ballroom and the Hall of the Oath. The Marquis Ferdinando Panciatichi Ximenez d'Aragona lived here for 40 years, also hosting the King of Italy Umberto I. During the Second World War the castle was sacked and later transformed into a luxury hotel and became the set of several films. Currently the building is managed by Sammezzano Castle srl and the Sammezzano FPXA Committee. The park around the castle was planted by Ferdinand of Aragon with the inclusion of many exotic tree species including 57 giant sequoias which represent the largest group in Italy. Come and visit the Sammezzano Castle, you will be amazed by its magnificence.
