Gran San Bernardo - The idea of building a tunnel under the Gran San Bernardo was already conceived in the nineteenth century, but it only began to materialize in 1958. At that time the design began and then the two construction sites were opened, one on the Swiss side and one on the Italian one, which they met in 1962. From that moment the largest capitals of northern and southern Europe were connected in a much more fluid way, allowing the development of quality tourism both in the Valais and Valle d'Aosta areas. One of the most interesting towns on the Swiss side of the tunnel is Martigny, where you can visit interesting museums such as the Saint Bernard Dog Museum. On the side of the Valle d'Aosta you immediately meet the capital, Aosta, with its many Roman monuments. On both sides you can taste tasty specialties, such as hot raclette cheese and Jambon de Bosses ham.
