The Guttuso Museum of Bagheria

Bagheria - Bagheria is a town famous for the presence of many and valuable villas. The best known of all is Villa Cattolica, the first one you come across when coming from Palermo. This villa is renowned for a very specific reason, and it is the fact that it houses the Guttuso Museum. The original nucleus of the museum is constituted by the donation made by the artist, Renato Guttuso, in 1973.

So this splendid building of 1736 gradually became a treasure trove of works of art, not only paintings but also sculptures, drawings, film posters and photos. In fact, the collection is eclectic, as it has grown over the years. Today it also houses a nitrita section dedicated to artist's books, which have been acquired by the various municipal administrations. In addition, there are also over 400 film posters in the Guttuso Museum, which were donated by Filippo Lo Medico, manager of one of the most renowned rooms in the area. Among the signatures of the posters there is also the name of Guttuso himself.
