Trekking to the Travecchia refuge

Val Biandino - In the path frequented even in winter, the path is split and well practicable. There is a lot of snow and it grips the woods in the frozen silence. Frozen waterfalls and brilliant cones adorn the rocks while the cobalt blue sky sharply defines the snowy headland. At the Travecchia refuge, 1810 m, you can eat well and it is recommended to add it in advance.

Pizzocheri, herb risotto, polenta with cheeses and a mix of desserts are served on the terrace with a beautiful view and the warmth of the sun. From Introbio you can also reach the Sanctuary of the Madonna delle Neve, where the highest spring in Europe is located, at 1935 m. Founded by the Etruscans and later inhabited by the Romans, the town still preserves the remains of the walls and burial sites. The large amount of lead and iron from the mountain mines contributed to the economic solidity in different historical periods. The Churches of San Michele from 1100 with a painting of the Madonna in Byzantine style and the Church of Santa Caterina from 1539 are worth visiting.
