Verbicaro: natural center rich in history of Cosenza

Verbicaro - Verbicaro is a municipality of Cosenza located in the heart of the Pollino National Park. The agricultural vocation is very strong, together with the pastoral one, and the place is famous for the production of a typical wine, the Sebino. Among the typical gastronomic products we also remember the cured meats such as the soppressata and the pancetta and different varieties of chilli.

In the historic center, ancient noble palaces alternate with narrow streets and important buildings such as the mother church of the Assunta, located in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele. Another very popular place of worship is the Church of the Byzantine rite, rich in works and frescoes from that historical period. Nature is very present in the area, there are many nature trails to take that attract enthusiasts and tourists. In addition to the flora, the fauna is very rich and it is possible to spot animals such as the wolf, the peregrine falcon or the golden eagle in the woods. Species that have taken refuge in these places, some of which are inaccessible to man. The symbol of the national park is the Bosnian pine.
