The beating heart of the town is Piazza Luciano Manara where there are the basilica of San Martino and Santa Maria Assunta and the civic tower, which is not a bell tower but a real sighting tower. In the communal era, Treviglio had to navigate between much more powerful neighbors, such as Milan, Venice and France in order not to be crushed. In 1522 the famous miracle of Treviglio took place. During the armed clash between Spain and France the city is sacked and only the cry of the Madonna in the church will stop him. Treviglio boasts an ancient industrial tradition, dating back to the nineteenth century. Especially in the construction of agricultural tractors, in the chemical and textile fields. It is therefore also called the city of tractors.
