Nature Culture Folklore and traditions

Piedicavallo - In the upper Cervo Valley, surrounded by immense beech woods and on the border with the Aosta Valley, is Piedicavallo, a mountain village in the province of Biella. In addition to the parish church of San Michele, dating back to the 18th century, and the church of San Grato, in the only hamlet of the town called Montesinaro; in Piedicavallo there is the only Protestant Waldensian place of worship in the Biella area, dating back to 1895. the Waldensian community mixes with the Christian one, retracing ancient traditions. Most of the buildings are made of stone, typical of the area. Piedicavallo gave birth to many famous stonemasons. Also in stone is the small village theater dedicated to Queen Margherita. Piedicavallo is also the starting point of several hiking trails that connect the Biellese with the Valsesia and Valle d'Aosta.
