The characteristics of Villa Masini in Montevarchi in Valdarno

Montevarchi - In Montevarchi there is a beautiful building, which many consider to be a classic example of Art Nouveau style, although this is not exactly the case. It is called Villa Masini and was built between 1924 and 1927. Its name is that of its client, Angelo Masini, who was an important industrialist of the time who worked in the production of hats.

The architect who built the building was Giuseppe Petrini, although the projects bear the name of Luigi Zumkeller. This is because Petrini was only a graduate of the Academy and could not sign, but in fact the ideas are his. The style of the villa is eclectic, with strong Liberty influences. The most purely liberty part of the building is the lemon house, where you can see the use of wrought iron, the abundance of decorations, the curved lines. The park of the villa is full of fountains, one of which, the fountain of Spring, was built by Pietro Guerri. This sculptor, very famous at the time, provided significant support to Masini for the completion of his residence.
