Cereseto, a village among the vineyards
Culture Food and wine Curiosities
Cereseto - The small town of Cereseto is immersed in the placid hills of Monferrato. It should therefore come as no surprise that its countryside is occupied by luxuriant vineyards, whose grapes flow into the local production chain. In this municipality there are in fact numerous prestigious denominations: the Barbera d'Asti DOCG, the Barbera del Monferrato DOC, the Barbera del Monferrato Superiore DOCG, the Grignolino del Monferrato Casalese DOC and other DOC wines. The autochthonous wineries are therefore a destination to try for anyone willing to live quality food and wine experiences. The most important building in the village is the Cereseto Castle, built at the beginning of the twentieth century by the engineer Vittorio Tornielli at the behest of the patron Riccardo Gualino; the style recalls the architecture of the Piedmontese fortresses of the late fifteenth century. The red brick facades and the five square towers are a spectacle of sure impact. The complex stands on the remains of an ancient medieval fortress demolished in the seventeenth century. Now the castle is home to cultural events and hosts a wonderful park.
