Pesaro - Pesaro is a town of over 96,000 inhabitants, capital of the province of Pesaro-Urbino, located at the mouth of the Foglia river, formerly Isauro, on the northern side of the Marche coast, on the border with Emilia-Romagna. Today, in addition to being an important industrial port, it is a very popular seaside resort thanks to its 7 km of pristine coastline which in 2005 earned it the Blue Flag for the quality of its water and services. The city, rich in finds, imposing medieval walls and splendid Renaissance palaces, presents the historic center with the classic Roman cross structure, in which the most important buildings and monuments meet, such as the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, an ancient church obtained from the union of two others, from the 4th and 6th centuries, rebuilt first in baroque and then neoclassical, it houses the remains of the patron saint San Terenzio. Nearby there is a small square with Palazzo Mosca, which belonged to a family of merchants, which hosted intellectuals and aristocrats such as Stendhal, Giacomo Casanova and Napoleone for brief periods, becoming today a museum. Nearby is the birthplace of Gioacchino Rossini, transformed into a museum dedicated to the composer. Also in the center is the symbol of the city, the Rocca Costanza, a large 15th century fortification with a square plan with a moat and military-style towers, now home to cultural conferences and exhibitions. Among the beaches, to the north, those of the bays under Mount San Bartolo stand out, small and reserved, and, closer to the center, Baia Flaminia, large and full of services, with clubs and nightlife. For nature lovers, outside the city there is the San Bartolo Regional Natural Park, which extends over an area of 1600 hectares overlooking the Adriatic. Full of paths, it is an example of perfect symbiosis between nature and man. Of course, if you want to sit at the table and enjoy something local, the fresh fish that arrives in Pesaro as soon as it is caught in all seasons is a must.
