The snow that whitens the castle

Rocca Viscontea. - The village is perched on the left bank of the Arda river, 30 km from Piacenza. Set of the famous film Lady Hawke, in which the inhabitants of the town participated as extras, it combines the spectacularity of the Rocca with a first-rate tourist offer. The first fortress was built by the citizens and strengthened by Luchino Visconti in 1347.

From the tower of the Mastio you can control the city life and the accesses from the valley. The two walls were built perpendicular to each other, dividing the task of protection to the citizens, from those of deployment of the military forces. Inside you can visit the austere rooms where you can admire the armor, the historical reconstructions of the military and common life of the Castle. The reception will reserve you tastings of local meats and cheeses offered with a glass of the best wines of the area. Closed on Mondays, the park of the castle awaits you for a walk to the Collegiate Church of Santa Maria Assunta, in Romanesque style, which houses the Chapels of Santa Caterina and San Giuseppe.
