The suggestive living nativity scene of Montenero di Bisaccia

Montenero di Bisaccia - Every Christmas in Montenero di Bisaccia, in several editions, the living nativity scene is held that retraces the streets of Bethlehem to the hut where, according to the Gospels, Mary took refuge to give birth to Jesus. What makes this nativity scene different from many others taking place all over Italy is the location. In fact, in Montenero there are some ancient sandstone caves, now in disuse.

The procession follows in the footsteps of the Magi who, in the wake of the comet, approach the hut. Along the way you will meet the numerous figures who stage the arts and crafts of the past. Young and old alike bring the blacksmith's shop to life, with the sound of the anvil being beaten over and over again. There are the peasants who sift the grain, the women who make bread and pasta and who embroider, sew, weave. The Holy Family is located under the comet, together with the animals that warm the child with whom you can stop for only a short time, to make room for all those who want to relive an ancient emotion, linked to faith and tradition.
