Traditions and good food at the festival of Knowledge and Flavors of Piteglio

Piteglio - The Pro Loco di Piteglio organizes every year a party that was created to enhance the municipality and the surrounding area. After a few editions, the initiative was so successful that it attracted thousands of visitors to the town. The event is called Saperi e Sapori and focuses on two typical features of the place: food and crafts.

Throughout the country there are therefore numerous food stands where you can taste many typical products, the main one being the tortello. The tortelli are made strictly by hand and it takes a long time to make enough for the large amount of people who flock to the party every year. The volunteers start in May, making them a little at a time, up to about 10,000 tortelli in all. The party is also animated with many initiatives designed for young and old. It is above all the younger boys who offer their work for the success of Saperi e Sapori, participating enthusiastically edition after edition and receiving increasingly more responsible assignments.
