The Rocca and the Villa of Agazzano

Culture

Agazzano - Agazzano is a small village of 2000 inhabitants in the province of Piacenza. In the town there are, a few meters away from each other, two important historical buildings: the Rocca and the Villa. The first dates back to the end of 1200 and was built by Giovanni Scoto. Inside there is a loggia dating back to 1475 made to soften the appearance of the fortress which until that period was purely military.

The leader Pier Maria Scotti known as Buso was killed inside the castle and his body thrown into its moat. According to legend, his ghost still continues to hover within the walls of the fortress. For those who visit the structure there is also the possibility of staying in the suite of the famous lady Eleonora Langoni. Very beautiful is also the garden created to replace the ancient moat which houses several mythological-themed statues. The nearby Villa, on the other hand, dates back to the late 1700s and has a U-shaped structure with arcades on all three sides. Its living room frescoed with landscape scenes and furnished with period furniture is suggestive. In the cellars of the villa you can also taste excellent wines.
