The sources of the Pescara river: an oasis of peace

The crystal clear water of the springs comes from the Campo Imperatore plateau and the Sirente plateau, collecting in the form of rain and snow, flowing underground until it re-emerges in this area. Very rich is the aquatic fauna which includes various species of fish but above all birds among which the coot, the moorhen, the little grebe, the heron, the squacco and the cormorant. A paradise for birdwatchers due to the fact that here the birds find both food in abundance in the waters of the springs and shelter in the thick vegetation of the area. Among the invertebrates, on the other hand, the very rare crayfish stands out.
