A treasure chest of beauty: Calanna and Laganadi

Calanna e Laganadi - Between the Strait of Messina and the Aspromonte Park there are two jewels of stillness and silence: Calanna and Laganadi. Both are surrounded by an enchanting scenery. Calanna overlooks the Strait of Messina and, on the promontory, houses the ruins of a Norman castle that appears to be a guardian of access from the sea and from the Gallico and Catona valleys.

The limestone rock on which the Borgo is located forms rocky sculptures, thanks to the erosion in towers and columns caused by rain and winds. The protohistoric settlement of Ronzo was dedicated here to the funeral custom by excavating caves, which can be visited, for the burial. The engraved terra cotta artefacts are visible in the Reggio Calabria museum. Very beautiful is the Church of Santa Maria del Rosario adorned with Byzantine capitals and artifacts from the Swabian and Norman periods, coming from the nearby monasteries. Laganadi also offers a mountain nature of excellence, with citrus and olive groves, quiet and silence, spring water with therapeutic properties.
