Hermitage of San Girolamo

Monte Cucco - The rocky wall on the east coast of Monte Cucco is covered. The cold Rio here digs canyons equipped with fixed ropes and ladders. It is not enough to wear good shoes and a lot of good will. The beginning of the stretch goes with ladders into a rocky corridor that intrigues the group of hikers with adventure. The paths intersect and you can choose between different destinations, but the most suggestive is undoubtedly the one that leads to the hermitage.

Between waterfalls and rocky paths there is no shortage of bathing breaks in the fresh and clear water of the stream. The impetuous roar of the Rio accompanies the whole route up to the overcoming of the ridge. Finally, at high altitude, a grassy path proceeds and surrounds the gentler side of the mountain, some small chapels invite to the spiritual reflection of the proximity to the hermitage. The building rises majestically below the summit and the waterfall that skims it is magnificent. The Monastery was built in 1380 and hosted the orders of San Agostino and San Francesco.
