Itinerary from Norcia and Preci

Norcia e Preci - Just past the Forca di Ancarano, on the slopes of Monte Patino, is the Castoriana Valley. This valley is characterized by an ancient system of settlements, which is articulated around the Abbey of Sant'Eutizio; this system includes the villas of Collescille, Valle Acquaro and Piedivalle which also includes the cities of Norcia and Preci.

The economy of the Valley is based on agriculture, known are the crops of lentils and spelled; the area is also known for its particular black truffle. The breeding of local pigs and wild boars as well as their slaughter is entrusted to a few companies, from here large productions of meats and cured meats are born. The city of Norcia has a great artistic heritage despite the earthquakes that have ruined some buildings. The monuments are located around the central square, in which there is the beautiful marble statue of San Benedetto with his church on the right. From Norcia, going down the tree-lined road, you will find the Borgo di Sant'Angelo with its characteristic 14th century church dedicated to the White Madonna. The church has a portico with four arches, inside it preserves frescoes and wooden sculptures of the fourteenth century and the beautiful white marble statue of the Madonna. Behind the church extends the village of Capo del Colle with its fortress. Just outside the village is the church of San Salvatore, a church with a simple facade adorned with two rose windows; inside there are frescoes by Sparapane depicting the Madonna, the crucifixion and the descent into hell of San Nicola da Bari. In the road that connects Campi to Spoleto is the Castello dei Campi which still retains the walls and tower. In Preci there is the Surgery Museum aimed at collecting documentation on the history of Precian surgery, in fact inside it are kept the tools of the trade and books. The Benedictine museum has been set up in the Abbey of Sant'Eutizio.
