Events Nature Culture Practical information

Ceres - Ceres is a town of just over 1000 inhabitants in the metropolitan city of Turin, in Piedmont. It is located near the Lanzo Valleys, that is three valleys of the Piedmontese Graian Alps, such as - for example - the Val di Susa to the south. Being very small in size, it does not have a large number of tourist attractions, and over the years it has suffered a 54% demographic decline.

The remaining monuments are the parish church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and the Sanctuary of Santa Cristina, which we will focus on. The Sanctuary of Santa Cristina, of Catholic religion, is built on the top of the homonymous mountain, it is located on the border between the municipalities of Ceres and Cantoira. It is said that in the past it was a votive pillar, probably dating back to the second half of the fourteenth century. The Sanctuary can be reached via two paths, one starting from Ceres and one from Cantoira, and both are characterized by the presence of many stone steps, from which you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Uja di Mondrone, part of the Lanzo Valleys.
