Cellole the city of mozzarella

Cellole - In an area where the blue of the sea and the green of the plains meet, Cellole is an enchanting village in Campania. The city overlooks the sea on which it based its economy. Since the feudal dominion the municipality was a fraction of Sessa Aurunca in fact it became independent in 1973. The undisputed symbol of the city of Cellole is the Roman Villa, a wonderful example of sub-urban building; thanks to a restoration work it is possible to admire the mosaics representing marine animals.

Another symbol of the past is the Norman tower located in Piazza Campobasso. The rural church of San Marco dating back to between IV and V d. C, the building has a characteristic gabled façade and a bell tower. Inside, the remains of a fresco from the 1500s remain visible. The church of San Vito and the church of Santa Lucia with its wonderful fifteenth-century altarpiece complete the religious itinerary of the city. In the church of Santa Lucia there is a wonderful wooden crucifix beyond the altarpiece. Buffalo mozzarella is the typical product of the city, still today of artisanal production. Made for decades by various dairies, Cellole mozzarella is enjoyed all over the world, thus making the city one of the first in Europe for the production of buffalo mozzarella. Another local production is wine, which is also famous throughout Italy. The coast of Baia Domizia is famous for its white beaches, in this hamlet it is possible to spend beautiful holidays in the name of relaxation and fun.
