The pearl of Valdigne: Courmayeur and its beauties

Courmayeur - Courmayeur is one of the most famous mountain resorts in Italy. Located at the foot of Mont Blanc, in the province of Aosta, at 1224 feet above sea level. It is part of the Valdigne area and is one of the most popular tourist places in the mountains. It was already known for tourism in the 17th century mainly for the presence of four thermal springs, while starting from the 19th century winter sports spread and attracted many other tourists to this area.

Among the major places of interest we can remember the church of Pantaleone, which is located right in front of the 'House of the guides' which houses the Duca degli Abbruzzi alpine museum which tells the golden age of mountaineering with documents and relics. This town was in fact the birthplace of numerous mountain guides and was the first headquarters of the Italian mountaineering society. The Malluquin tower house is one of the few testimonies of the medieval era. Via Roma is the main part of the historic center with shops and clubs. Climbing Mont Blanc with the cable car you can also admire the Sausurrea botanical garden, and in the other intermediate stages also an exhibition of crystals found by climbers, as well as breathtaking views.
