Its urban plan preserves the medieval structure intact, with walls and two entrances to the castle: Porta Perugina and Porta Fiorentina. The historic center of the village is characterized by the presence of concentric rings that wind up to the highest point of the village itself. Three squares identify the religious, political and economic powers of the village. The artistic masterpiece is represented by the Church of San Sebastiano, from the 15th century; born as a shelter for plague sufferers, today it is a true casket that preserves two priceless treasures: the fresco of the martyrdom of San Sebastiano del Perugino and the fresco of the Madonna and child among musician angels, recently attributed to Raphael. Noteworthy are the Palazzo dei Podestà and the Teatro Caporali, the cultural heart of Panicale. Here was born after the war the first agricultural consortium for the collection and pressing of olives, economic driving force of the village and absolute cultural reference. The school of embroidery which is located here is important. The village is suitable for nature lovers and for trekking.
