The GeoPark of the Metalliferous Hills

Colline Metallifere - The Parco delle Colline Metallifere was created to enhance the mining activity of the territory, until it became a GeoPark. This initiative was born to go beyond the mere enhancement of the territory, or rather, it starts from here to develop and spread what is the whole history of this land. The main attraction is the rocks. Here you can observe sedimentary rocks formed in a basin over 200 million years ago, therefore at the beginning of the Triassic.

Formed below sea level, they can now be found on the surface thanks to tectonic events that took place over millions of years. The transition took place when we realized the real value of this territory, an attraction for many tourists. This difficult path began in 2010, which has led the GeoPark of the Metalliferous Hills to be one of the eleven geoparks protected by UNESCO. Obviously it is a territory that is worth visiting and of which it is extremely interesting to know the origins.
