The avenue of remembrances, so called for each fallen of the city is adorned with many trees, leaving the villa you can stop at the belvedere of the city. In the central pizza of Vasto there is the statue dedicated to the poet Gabriele Rossetti, below the square there is an ancient Roman amphitheater that can be glimpsed thanks to the excavations on sight. The Caldoresco castle is located on a promontory overlooking the coast, the palace has been modified several times, the original part dates back to the 14th-15th century while the transformations made by the Avalos date back to the 15th century. The square plan has four angular almond-shaped bastions, a circular tower for the sighting of the battlements and a lateral one. The cathedral of Santa Maria where the Santa Spina is kept, which is said to come from the crown of thorns of Jesus. The cathedral of San Giuseppe dates back to the thirteenth century, still retains the fourteenth-century façade and the baroque bell tower. The Palazzo d'Avalos is now the seat of the civic and costume museum. From its splendid gardens it is possible to admire a breathtaking view. The Amblingh loggia allows visitors to take a walk with a view of the wide gulf, about halfway there is a small chapel dedicated to the Madonna della Catena where inside there is a painting depicting the risen Christ. Behind there is the medieval quarter characterized by narrow streets and stairways; on the eastern side of the ancient walls there is the Porta Catena. Due to the landslide of 1956 at the end of the loggia it is no longer possible to admire the entire church of San Pietro, but the façade offers a pretty niche overlooking the gulf.
