The church of the Confraternity of the Santissima Annunziata was established around 1600; in 1879 it was restored and frescoes were added on the vault with sacred images. The church of San Giovanni Battista, rebuilt in 1964, has a single central nave and wonderful frescoes and paintings. Unfortunately, many of the seventeenth-century frescoes were lost due to the various changes made to the church; changes that were made after an earthquake and infiltrations. For the inhabitants of Gizzeria the cult of San Giovanni is very important as it represents a cry for freedom. In fact, on June 24 of each year a procession is dedicated.
