Fobello, gem to be discovered

Fobello - Fobello is a very small Piedmontese town, in the province of Vercelli; it stands at 880 meters above sea level and has just 185 inhabitants. Set among the unspoiled nature of the upper Valsesia, it is bathed by the Mastellone stream. The native village dates back to a pastoral settlement which gradually expanded; today around the historic center orbiting, 23 hamlets arranged in a corolla.

The Valsesia Natural Park that surrounds it offers a luxuriant nature made of waters, dense beech woods and abundant fauna: foxes and deer. Urbanistically it differs from the typical landscape of the Alpine centers, due to the size of the houses and the presence of historic houses and stately homes of the 18th century, elements absent in the other Alpine centers. Torrente Mastellone showed its strength several times, overflowing on several occasions, the worst was in 1923, when it destroyed the parish church of San Giacomo, from 1545, then rebuilt in 1931. The chapels of the Via Crucis circuit and the Oratory are noteworthy. of San Giuseppe of the XVIII century, with frescoes on the facade.
