The tiny village of Poggiodomo

Poggiodomo - Poggiodomo is the small village in the province of Perugia. It rises in the Valnerina and is at the same time the smallest municipality and with its almost 1000 meters above sea level it is the one that is at the highest height in Umbria. In the vicinity of the village you can admire an enchanting landscape made of mountains covered by dense woods that are a refuge for various animals such as eagles, kestrels, buzzards, hoopoes, wild cats, wild boars and wolves.

Places of great interest in the town are the medieval old town and Borgo San Pietro. The main church is that of San Carlo Borromeo while in that of San Pietro there are important medieval frescoes. Also worth a visit are the Hermitage of the Madonna della Stella with its fifteenth-century frescoes, the Church of Santa Maria Annunziata, the Church of San Pancrazio and the Church of San Salvatore built by Cardinal Fausto Poli, famous for having been private secretary of Pope Urban VIII. Typical products of the area are bread dough dumplings, truffles, wild berries, game, cheeses and sheep skewers.
