Discovering Piedimonte Matese

Piedimonte Matese - Piedimonte Matese (Piedimonte d'Alife until 1970) is an Italian town belonging to the province of Caserta, in Campania. The first references to Piedimonte Matese date back to the period between the 10th and 11th centuries, a period in which the Lombard dominion was now at an end. The village was then called 'Pedes de monte' and the name indicated its geographical location at the foot of the mountain.
