A city to visit at least once in a lifetime, Assisi

Assisi - We are in the city of San Francesco, in the province of Perugia, in one of the most peculiar places of worship in Italy, where you can breathe an incomparable air. Let's go immediately to the discovery of this unique village: Assisi. We begin the visit from Santa Maria degli Angeli, inside which you can see the forcola. We then reach the historic center where streets of shards branch off, all downhill.

The only climb to do is the one that leads to the Rocca Maggiore, where you can enjoy a beautiful panorama and historically the stay of Federico Barbarossa and Federico II. The town deserves to be visited not only because it is the birthplace of San Francesco but for the many churches, each one of a kind. One of the most beautiful churches is that of Santa Maria Maggiore. We still admire the Church of Santo Stefano, the Chiesa Nuova, the Cathedral of San Rufino, the Abbey of San Benedetto and the Basilica of Santa Chiara. Another noteworthy basilica, which cannot be missed in our trip is the Basilica of San Francesco. Wanted by Pope Gregory IX, from 1230 it conserves and guards the mortal remains of the seraphic saint; in 2000 it was defined as a World Heritage Site by Unesco. It consists of two churches and a bell tower and inside there are decorations that we can not stop to admire.
