San Romano, the fortress of warts

La fortezza delle Verrucole - San Romano, located on the appendages of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, made up of delightful villages and enchanted places, such as the park of the Apennines, the Orecchiella reserve where you can enjoy days in direct contact with nature. One of the architectural beauties that, however, characterizes the area is the Fortress of the Verrucole.

In an elevated position, it was built in the 10th century, it extends throughout its immense length with a particular elongated shape. Entering we find the square fortress and the gunboat, in the background we have the Apuan amphitheater. Crossing the threshold of the fortress means taking a dip in the past, not only walking inside and along its walls, but also discovering rooms, clothes, tools, and everything that belongs to medieval life and beyond. The structure also offers various activities to relive life in the structure, usable by anyone, thanks to the monorail that makes us reach the place easily and from the elevator, built to allow everyone to visit every corner.
