Between mountains and lagoon

Noventa di Piave - Located on the left bank of the Piave river, Noventa di Piave enjoys a favorable location suitable for the flourishing of arts and businesses. On a tourist level, it enjoys the equivalent proximity of both the sea and the mountains. The position also favored, since ancient times, a rapid economic development, also favored by the construction of a merchant port located on the banks of the river.

This port, located since the 1960s, also favored the connection with the city of Venice. The archaeological excavations near the church of San Mauro testify that the territory was already inhabited in Roman times. Subsequently in Caporetto, the town was completely destroyed and from that catastrophe the current Noventa was reborn that today can be visited: a new church dedicated to San Mauro, a new bell tower 80 meters high, one of the highest in Veneto, a new square and much more on a commercial level. The relationship with the river still represents the distinctive mark of the Noventano environment today. The Piave, being an alpine type river, is a link between the Dolomite ecosystem and the lagoon ecosystem of Venice. The visitor, along the numerous routes that unravel in the village, will be surrounded by a naturalistic wealth: to be noticed is the Pioppeto Saliceto, a typical forest that develops on the banks of the river. An important stop is the 'il Pendolino' Naturalistic Didactic Center just 2km from the center of Noventa, and takes its name from a species of bird, now in danger of extinction, which nests on the banks of the Piave. The friendliness of the citizens is also a typical characteristic of Noventa and the gastronomy communicates, through each dish, the Noventan and Venetian identity but also their tradition.
