Still very well preserved is the castle or fortress, built by the Farnese family, very close to the territory. Inside, in addition to the still visible frescoes, you can visit the museum of prehistory. Among the places of worship it is worth mentioning the church of San Giovanni Apostolo Evangelista, right next to the fortress, in which works of art and sculptures are preserved. The town bases its economy on agriculture and is therefore also a destination for food and wine tourism. Among the typical products there are: legumes such as chickpeas from the straight furrow and beans, valentanese tortello, lamb, to which a festival is also dedicated, wild boar and many cheeses. Typical of these areas is safflower, a plant used for the production of pasta and other food products, as well as cosmetic products. Another pride of the town is the textile production, in particular that of leather goods.
