Gran San Bernardo, the place of the perfect excursion

Gran San Bernardo - The Gran San Bernardo area is one of the most iconic and beautiful places in the Alps. The pass and the locality have been known and frequented since ancient times: the Romans built a temple in honor of Jupiter Pennino, while the famous pass flows through the ancient Via Francigena. Furthermore, during the 11th century an important monastery was erected there, the Hospice of the Great Saint Bernard, managed by the canons of the homonymous congregation.

The San Bernardo is perfect for hiking and is home to one of the most famous and demanding passes in the world of cycling. The height of over 2400 meters hosts a typical alpine landscape and climate; the fresh and clear air blesses the walks, while the valleys offer a wide glance, of sure impact. The ideal itinerary to follow allows you to admire the crystalline waters of the Gran San Bernardo Lake, located in the basin called Piano di Giove, on the border between Switzerland and Italy. It is precisely this palette of colors that makes this place wonderful: between the green of the mountains, the blue of the sky and the waters, the white of the snow and the multiple chromatics of the flowers, the Gran San Bernardo is one of those places that really deserves to be visited.
