Exploring Rende
Culture Practical information
Rende - Rende is an Italian town of 35761 inhabitants in the province of Cosenza, in Calabria. The roar of the waters of the rivers that cross it make this town one of the most beautiful in Calabria. Rende is also considered the city of parks and gardens, thanks to the prevalence of greenery. In the historic center of Rende there are very important museums: in the Vitari palace there is the 'Achille Capizzano Center for art and culture', home to exhibitions and conferences on local and international art, and the 'MAON, Museo d 'art of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries'. The 'Museum of Folklore', in the Zagarese palace, is essentially dedicated to the territory of Calabria Citiori (roughly corresponds to the province of Cosenza); the collection of about three thousand objects illustrates the culture of these territories. The itinerary of the museum, which is located in the historic center, is spread over nine rooms. Finally, the 'Museum of the Present' is located in the modern area of the city; eight exhibition halls are spread over an area of 2500 m². The museum hosts modern and contemporary art exhibitions, photographic exhibitions, cineforums, shows, conferences and book presentations.
