Among wolves, lynxes and chamois: discovering Civitella Alfedena

Nature Food and wine

Civitella Alfedena - Welcome to the home of the Marsical brown bear, chamois, wolf, fox and many other protected species of local fauna and flora. Welcome to Civitella Alfedena, cradle of the Abruzzo National Park and the integral reserve of the camosciara, an uncontaminated emerald-colored space in which it is possible to have a unique experience in close contact with a luxuriant nature, walking along tree-lined paths and doing unexpected encounters with the inhabitants of the local fauna, now perfectly integrated with the presence of the numerous visitors.

The more you enter the paths, woven by dense vegetation, the more the scenery becomes rich in landscape beauties, such as the Tre Cannelle and Ninfe waterfalls, an unmissable aquatic spectacle. At the foot of the town there is another body of water, the Barrea lake, around which are developed wildlife trails beaten by the Abruzzese wolf in a state of semi-freedom. Civitella Alfedena, a town that has just 300 souls, preserves the characteristics of the medieval Apennine villages, with the typical houses gathered around the main church and the silent alleys that host them. Here nature and the earth have been generous and provide excellent products such as honey, cheeses, a great variety of jams, almonds, of which most sweets are made, aromatic herbs from which fine liqueurs are obtained, a precious range of gastronomic delicacies that make these places even more inviting. Those who visit Civitella Alfedena will have their senses satisfied, making a priceless experience in contact with nature in one of the smallest and most beautiful villages in Italy.
