Caorle, pearl on the Adriatic

Nature Food and wine Folklore and traditions Curiosities

Caorle - Caorle is an exceptional destination at any time of the year. Given the quality of its sea in summer, between beaches, bathing establishments and clear water, the town has something to offer even to those looking for something different. In fact, Caorle was born as a fishing center and has developed a historic village with picturesque views.

The old area is located between the two main beaches of the city, that of Ponente and Levante and is worth a visit. After passing the colorful huts in the center, you can linger with a walk along the seafront where the "Scogliera Viva" initiative is active, which has led many artists to sculpt the boulders of the coastal coast. On a promontory that flows into the Adriatic it is possible to admire the delightful Church of the Madonna dell'Angelo; it is not only the Baroque architecture that is striking; its simple and dignified way of standing out on the maritime horizon offers a panorama of sure effect. In the city, a visit to the cathedral is recommended. Adjacent to it are the tapered bell tower (really graceful and curious for its tall and slender structure) and the Museum of the treasure of the Cathedral of Caorle. Along the coast overlooking the lagoon you can admire the so-called casoni di Caorle, the rustic dwellings of the fishermen of the past; they are an ideal stop for a boat or bike ride. All this maritime tradition flows into a fish-based cuisine: we recommend the "broetto de seppe", a restricted cuttlefish-based broth, a historic meal in the city. Other typical products are fried seafood, boiled octopus and sardines in saor.
