The wonders of Monte Argentario, between sea and taste

Monte Argentario - One of the most beautiful and appreciable places for anyone visiting Tuscany is certainly the Monte Argentario area. This relief is in fact a promontory almost completely surrounded by the sea. Located in the Grosseto Maremma, among the most famous places in the locality we certainly find the beaches. In fact, we can find both beaches managed by well-organized bathing establishments (such as Gianella, Soda and Cala Galera) and coves that hybridize sand and rocks.

Among these we mention the Cacciarella, a strip of sand embedded between the rocks notable for its naturalistic impact, and the Acqua Dolce, of similar characteristics. In the cove called the Dead Sea you will find perhaps the most crystalline water of the entire promontory, with the possibility of being able to admire the seabed made alive by myriads of fish. For those who want to admire the pretty towns, a stop in Porto Santo Stefano (the main town in the area) and the ancient fishing village of Porto Ercole is a must. Here the architecture has remained rustic, suspended in time; the perfect place to breathe the sea air. A tour in the center deserves even just to wander through its charming alleys, to then culminate the walk on the slopes of the Rocca, one of the many centuries-old fortresses that populate the Argentario. It is implied to consider the local cuisine in order to taste fish specialties. It starts with the substantial 'scaveccio' (a fried 'mazzama', that is small fish) and continues with the 'caldaro', the local fish soup. For dessert you can appreciate typical Maremma products such as stichi di morta, for those who like biscuits with hazelnuts, or corolletti di rosa. The latter will intrigue you with their unmistakable pink color and the sweetness of sugar and alchermes.
