Savignano sul Panaro - On a high hill located on the right bank of the Panaro, the medieval village rises, surrounded by two walls. The oldest buildings date back to 1020, including the Parish Church. Structured in a single nave with barrel vaults, it contains five chapels. These depict the scenes of the Via Crucis, painted in the 1700s by the Bolognese school.

Furthermore we visit the paintings of Santa Caterina da Siena and San Domenico by Varrotti and the Altarpiece of Sant'Antonio Abate, Sant'Antonio da Padova, San Francesco and Biagio Martire painted by Vellani. The painters Villa, Bergamini and Lucerni are instead the authors of the wall frescoes. Other surprises await you at the Museum of the Elephant and the Venus. Here is preserved a female Mammuthus whose environment is reconstructed where the proboscidata lived 2,000,000 years ago. You can learn everything about her: the development of her fangs, her diet and the process of fossilization. In the museum we also visit the Venus, a copy of the hard stone, green and yellow figurine, found during the excavations of a building foundation and donated by a private buyer to the Pigorini Museum in Rome. We recommend a stay in September on the occasion of the Fight for the Sword, where you can find life, the inns and the shops that made up the community in 1400.
