In eighth place, Case Grotta, the typical house of the Sassi dug into the rock, a useful way to understand the origins of peasant life in Matera. In seventh place we find Parco della Murgia Materana, immersed in uncontaminated nature and characterized by the presence of limestone that has given rise to caves and cliffs where man has settled since prehistoric times. In the sixth place there is the Musma Museum, dedicated to sculpture, while in the fifth Palombaro Lungo, the largest water tank in the city. In fourth place, the Crypt of the Original Sin, a cult place of the Lombard period decorated with numerous frescoes. In the first three places we find San Pietro Barisano, the Cathedral of Matera, and the most important site in the whole city: the Sassi di Matera, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, represent the oldest districts of the city, which testify that man lived there since prehistoric times.
