The city of San Francesco, Paola

Paola - Today we are in the wonderful land of chillies, specifically in the province of Cosenza, in Paola, the city of San Francesco. Its sea capable of giving exciting moods in summer, the majestic crash of the waves in winter, Paola is a welcoming, dynamic and perpetually moving town; known for being the birthplace of San Francesco. In fact, the town is visited every year by numerous pilgrims from all over the world.

At the entrance to the city we are greeted by the Porta di San Francesco, a symbol of the traditional religiosity of the place; a few steps away, we meet the hometown of San Francesco. Continuing we go to visit the sanctuary of San Francesco, symbol of the city. Built starting in 1452, the sanctuary stands in the upper and hilly part of the city, flanked by a stream and rich vegetation; the large square conveys the peace of the place and accompanies us on an intimate journey to discover its interiors. Paola is a city all in bloom, which deserves to be visited for the greatness of its welcome and for the splendor of its majesty.
