The legend of the spouses of Sepino

Sepino - Sepino is located in the province of Campobasso and is part of the circuit of the most beautiful villages in Italy. They were in the carriage that traveled the Samnite consular Naples-Campobasso, on the Tammaro plain. That carriage, however, was stopped by a group of brigands, who had decided to rob the passengers and ordered them to get off. Luigi opposed, to defend his bride. One of the brigands aimed the musket at his chest, but Carolina got in the way and died, killed by the shot of the weapon. Shortly thereafter, her husband followed the same fate. The brigands fled with Carolina's gold and jewels, and she and Luigi were buried in the Sepino cemetery with a plaque commemorating their love, and the solidarity of the citizens towards the families of the two, destroyed by grief.
