Collodi's fairytale wonders

Collodi - Collodi is a fraction of Pescia, famous because the writer Carlo Lorenzini spent his childhood here and wanted to use Collodi as a pseudonym. The author's most famous work is Pinocchio, which can be found at Villa Garzoni. Villa Garzoni was built by the homonymous family who was originally from Pescia, but settled in Collodi after various political troubles between the Grand Duchy of Tuscany and the Republic of Lucca.

On the remains of a medieval fortress he built a noble residence which today boasts above all a magnificent monumental garden. Here the water flows abundantly, filling fountains and ponds and giving life to a real staircase that culminates in two statues depicting Lucca and Florence. But in the park there are also traces of the famous wooden puppet, for example you can walk in the wide open mouth of the shark. In Collodi there are also those who emulate Mastro Geppetto: it is Francesco Bartolucci who has a carpenter's shop and has specialized in making Pinocchi.
