After the Second World War, Muggia lost several fractions which passed to Yugoslavia. Great importance for the town is the centuries-old fishing tradition that provides much appreciated fish products. Photographs concerning the history of Muggia and its citizens are exhibited in the Civic Museums of History and Art of Trieste. Particular was the ancient Muglisano dialect in which it was customary to give curious nicknames based on the physical characteristics and / or the profession to the members of the various families of the town. A very fun event is the Muggia Carnival in which the city companies perform among allegorical floats and wild dances.
