The Gran Bosco reserve, in Mesola

Nature Leisure and entertainment Practical information

Mesola - Today we are in the province of Ferrara, on the border with Veneto: we are in Mesola. Let's go immediately to the discovery of the Estense Castle which, together with the Po delta, has been defined by Unesco as a World Heritage Site. Inside we can visit the first museum, where the family tree of the castle and some illustrative panels are exhibited.

On the second floor, on the other hand, we find the Mesola Forest and Deer Museum, an educational museum designed for children which illustrates the evolution of the Mesola deer species. We then go to visit the Parish of the Nativity of Mary. Another imposing relic of Mesola is its Gran Bosco Nature Reserve, which extends over more than a thousand hectares. Inside the nature reserve we can, if we are lucky, admire the famous Mesola deer, a rare and, unfortunately, endangered specimen. There are many routes that can be followed within the reserve; recommended is the support of a tourist guide, with whom, knowing how to move skillfully inside the Gran Bosco, you can more easily admire this majestic protected species.
