Another place of worship is the chapel of the Crucifix, dating back to the seventeenth century, with a completely frescoed vault. In Via Mayro there is the house of the poet Vito Domenico Palumbo, a Hellenist poet who contributed to the cultural awakening of Salento. Among the civil architectures of considerable interest, Palazzo Morrone stands out, with a valuable wooden door and a spacious internal courtyard. Another place of worship worth mentioning is the chapel of the Madonna del Carmine, with an ancient trussed ceiling, and next to it another example of a stately building, Palazzo Montinari. The main street, via Montinari, ends with public gardens embellished with busts of important personalities, and a marble stele donated by the city of Athens. At the entrance to the Calimera wood there is the small church of San Vito, with a particular characteristic: in the center a limestone boulder protrudes from the floor with a hole in the center through which small and large faithful pass traditionally on the day of the celebrations of Monday. Easter.
