Brisighella: a suggestive Romagna medieval village, known for the Three Hills
Events Culture Food and wine Leisure and entertainment Folklore and traditions
Brisighella - Brisighella is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. Of medieval style, it is known for the 'Tre Colli', or three rocky pinnacles on which rest as many places of interest: the Manfredian fortress, the Monticino sanctuary and the clock tower. Its origins are very ancient and the various civil and religious architectures are the result of the medieval era. (continues below the video)
A part of the municipality is also part of the protected natural area of the Regional Park of the Vena del Gesso Romagnola, characteristic precisely for being a territory made up mostly of gypsum. A curious feature of the town is Via degli Asini, the only elevated road in Italy, which was used to park donkeys by merchants and plasterers and which today offers a suggestive glimpse of the town. Today it is called Via del Borgo. The economy is based on agriculture and plaster processing, and on gastronomic excellences such as oil, Sangiovese wine and Moretto artichoke. Every year there are many festivals to celebrate typical products, and events that attract many tourists linked to historical re-enactments. The main place of worship is the collegiate church of San Michele Arcangelo, but the Sanctuary of Monticino remains very important, which houses a sacred image in terracotta depicting the Madonna and Child dating back to 600.
