Villa Ca 'Zen in Taglio di Po

Taglio di Po - In Taglio di Po there is a villa that could be considered smaller than other large Venetian villas, but which has an ancient charm that has never waned. It is called Ca'Zen as it was built in the eighteenth century by the noble Venetian Zen family. The latter owned land in Polesine and therefore gave life to a complex made up of several buildings.

The peculiarity of Ca'Zen is that the ceilings are not frescoed but have wooden beams, while the floors are in grit. After the Zen the villa passed to the Marquises Guiccioli, and it is to this period that the romantic love story between Teresa Gamba, wife of Alessandro Guiccioli, and Lord Byron dates back. He wrote a poem dedicated to his beloved which is called 'Ode al Po'. The family who currently own the estate have decided to convert the villa into a tourist property which has 13 rooms and hosts many travelers, mostly international. Polesine is appreciated by foreigners as it is considered a garden among the cities of art.
